FOOD AS MEDICINE
Nutty Health Claims - 7 of them
FDA approves a health claim for seven kinds of nuts

In 2003, the FDA recognized the benefits of nuts and their role in heart disease prevention. They did so by approving a health claim for 7 kinds of nuts:
almonds, hazelnuts, peanuts, pecans, some pine nuts, pistachios and walnuts
These seven nuts were approved as they are the only ones that contain less than 4g of saturated fats per 50g. Glad to hear it - especially about the Walnuts, which have a lot going for them.
Walnuts are nut royalty; chewy, sweet and just plain good to eat with their characteristic flavor and texture.
Most people think of flaxseed to get their heart-healthy Omega-3 fatty acids, but walnuts also are an excellent source of these ALAs.
Walnuts are beneficial for your skin, blood pressure and weight. Try eating an ounce of walnuts daily.
Due to the fatty, carb-heavy American diet, millions of people are increasing their odds of liver inflammation.
Eating walnuts daily can help prevent or reverse the fatigue or malaise (early symptoms) of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, so get your fill.
Walnuts have also been shown to aid in lowering LDL cholesterol (the bad cholesterol) and the C-Reactive Protein (CRP). CRP has been recognized as an independent marker and predictor of heart disease.
All around, walnuts are a winner for your health, and the FDA likes them too! Add walnuts - and flaxseed to your list of foods as medicine.

Nutty but true:
Walnuts contain liver-healthy omega-3s
Eating walnuts daily can help prevent or reverse the fatigue or malaise (early symptoms) of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, so get your fill.
